Central Indiana Community Foundation

Before renovating their downtown office, the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) had three separate locations. studioAXIS worked with CICF to refresh the 15,205-square-foot space, which unites all their offices under one roof.

The U-shaped space has plenty of amenity areas for employees, donors, and the community at large. Each wing of the “U” also serves as a neighborhood; active spaces are toward the front, and heads-down areas are toward the back. The CICF regularly hosts donors and it was imperative that the new location feel welcoming and professional. This generated a social hub with space to host clients, socialize or just relax with plenty of soft seating. The area, which is located near the reception area also includes a bar and seating suited for events, and a full kitchen with tucked away appliances to remain welcoming for visitors.

The need to facilitate collaboration, which is essential to both the internal team and external stakeholders of CICF, led to the creation of a variety of meeting spaces. From open-space, soft seating areas and booths primarily delineated for informal collaboration to meeting rooms with more traditional tables and chairs that can be reconfigured as needed.

The third priority we focused on were the individual workstations which were reimagined to include more storage and a large enough desk surface to accommodate dual monitors and lay out documents. Additionally, the transition to adjustable heigh desks meant that everyone had ergonomic support. Including soft seating areas throughout the workstation areas ensured that impromptu collaboration, which had previously happened in cramped private offices or in hallways, was made more accessible to all.
