Tengah Woods
The master plan for Tengah Woods establishes a major new residential neighborhood on a prominent greenfield site in western Singapore. Tengah Woods establishes a paradigm for living in balance with nature.
A Flexible Typology has been created where each component can be interchanged, rearranged, and configured to adapt to a specific neighborhood depending on whether an urban, suburban or hybrid community is desired. The partii of the building configuration is conceived with sustainability and a green environment set to the highest caliber.
The “Breathable Building” is the model exceeding today’s environmental standards. The unit typologies are arranged in a dual undulating manner allowing airflow to permeate the building’s façade giving every unit cross ventilation that moves horizontally and vertically throughout the building mass cooling each unit and the building’s vertical core. While creating an environment that capitalizes on the wind’s natural forces, each unit will have a private terrace and a private balcony where one unit shades another for complete solar control when the sun is at its peak. The units have been integrated with monsoon windows for ventilation during inclement weather, a rooftop photovoltaic and wind turbine system to create renewable energy and a series of sky gardens that will improve the air quality throughout the entire building symbolizing a “Building in the Forest”.
