Ursula David Residence
Located in the historic Herron-Morton Place Neighborhood, the Ursula David Residence is among a series of modern homes in Indianapolis. A refined version of a historic cottage home, the house is complimentary of the historic context.
The design for the Ursula David Residence transformed the traditional roof forms found throughout the historic neighborhood, in a skillful manner respectful of tradition in a style that will transcend time.
While it was important for the Ursula David Residence to have its own style, to be of its own time, and not to imitate the past, the goal for the design of this 4,000 F² home was to reference the form, color, window detailing, and materiality of the existing neighborhood but to create a modern home that was respectful of its heritage. The use of natural light becomes the overriding factor in creating an interior space that is light-filled to highlight the interior finishes while providing views to the exterior.
