Yangzhou Retail + Mixed Use Complex
United by an emphasis on the Erdao Creek, the Yangzhou Retail + Mixed Use Complex is a large-scale, dynamic master plan that fuses retail, a department store, a museum, a theater, a health club, and Class-A office space, creating a sense of exploration and community within the site.
The Yangzhou Retail Center in Yangzhou, China, is a mixed-use retail development on the edge of the city’s central downtown core and the Weiyang District. This mixed-use retail center is located along Middle Wenchang Road and the Erdao Creek and will contain various types of retail programming including a department store, food & beverage outlets, entertainment retail, a “big box” specialty department store, a variety of smaller boutique retail outlets, a museum, a theater, a health club, and an office tower. The master plan was developed to revitalize the existing neighborhood, to support the Yangzhou University to the east of the site, complement the existing development along the Erdao Creek and to become the premier retail center in Yangzhou. The project also unites disparate portions of Yangzhou by stitching the various surrounding neighborhoods together.
Located along the north-south axis parallel to North Daxue Road and the Erdao Creek, is a series of three large public open spaces that become a catalyst for the programmatic functions that surround them. These three public open spaces are linked by a series of smaller internal streets and courtyards that provide daylight and visibility to the retail shops located within the site and provide the users a variety of experiences as they move through the project.
