Fiat Powertrain Shanghai

Located in one of Shanghai’s largest industrial districts on the edge of the city, the Fiat Powertrain’s Shanghai Industrial Facility is a 50,000 M² high-bay long span space that is naturally lit from above using an overhead skylight system designed to harness northern daylight. The facility is designed for the manufacturing, assembly, and distribution of powertrain systems across Asia.

A key component of the project was the design of the iconic structure that sits above the industrial facility. The 8,000 M² office “cube” was created to provide direct connectivity to the industrial building with a corporate canteen located on the ground plane and a plinth to display Fiat Chrysler / ZF’s automobile products. The hallmark of the design for the office “cube” is the internal light well that brings 360° of natural daylight to the space while providing an outdoor secure courtyard below.
