Purdue University – Purdue Health & Wellbeing Center
Purdue University’s vision was to create a new facility that celebrates total wellbeing. The study examined combining the Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH) and the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) into a single building. Combining the services would enhance the overall health of the Purdue community and provide integrated health services to both students and employees.
Some of the proposed features included a physicians/nurse’s area between the patient rooms which provided multiple settings adaptable to a variety of tasks, needs, and preferences. Also considered were semi-private touchdown spaces for focus work, adjustable height workstations, and appealing retreat spaces close to the work hubs as an investment in staff physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Views to the exterior proved a connection to nature and access to daylight.
The feasibility study took the campus master plan into account and considered current and future housing and dining facilities. It examined four different sites to determine what might be the best option. The study also included renderings and a program of spaces that will be used by Purdue University stakeholders to raise funding.
